I'm hoping someone can give me a clue as to what might be going on. I have a 2022 Mercury 150 Pro XS on a pontoon and it only has 43 hours run time. The problem - I cruised for an hour, pulled up to a dock, ate at a restaurant, and then, on my way back the motor starting spitting and sputtering. I limped back home, called my mechanic and he connected his laptop for a diagnostic scan. The scan didn't show any codes, even while the motor was sputtering. The pontoon dash did not show any codes for anything being wrong either. My mechanic checked the fuel, spark plugs and something else in the motor (can't remember what it was called) and all checked out okay. I use fuel stabilizer for each fill up, even over the winter when it's sitting. I ran most of the gas out, just in case it was a gas problem, put new gas in, with new fuel stabilizer, made the same run, 1 hour there, ate at the restaurant, on my way back, albeit it not as quickly as last time, the motor starting sputtering for no reason. The really odd thing is, I could only run about 5 mph to keep it from cutting off, but, when I hit any wake, the motor would sputter and cut off even at 5 mph. The warranty is out even though it only has 43 hours run time simply because of not having much time to use it, although the issue starting before it ran out (documented). I called Mercury to try to get help but the rude customer service guy I talked to said they don't have tech support for the public, only for certified mechanics. Even though my mechanic previously worked at a Mercury certified shop (he now has his own business), the mercury customer service rep would not accept anything from him. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
