Hey guys, glad to be here.
I was over at my dad's house last week, and we were trying to work on his yamaha outboard. It cranks and idles pretty well, and will open up well in neutral. However, when we took it out to the lake, it will run fine, but will not open up in forward or reverse gear (it will rev up high in neutral however). We pulled all three carbs, cleaned them well, put in new fuel, etc, so we don't think it's a fuel issue. Do you have any idea as to what may cause this? We are absolutely puzzled.
Also, when shifting out of forward, the control box shifts easily back into N, but the foot stays in forward until you manually idle it up or kill the engine. It is an 85' model # 40HEO - Any help is much appreciated.
