Hi
I am an absolute newbie, never owned a boat before but I picked up this 177 with a Chevvy inboard and trailer for a song.

It has been sitting for over a year; I've put stuff down the cylinders supposed to keep em from seizing, but I would at least like to spin it with the plugs out, see if it's seized or not.

I have no idea of how to start it (I think it's a 1980, but there is no manual with it I will have to get one from somewhere I guess) and was hoping it might be a little more complex than "turn the ignition key" because that does nothing. I did manage to drop the stern drive, so that's a definite good thing. I don't know if the button next to the one that drops the stern drive is anything to do with starting it.

IF I take a battery and jumper leads and find a good ground, if I jab the hot terminal to the starter, should that spin it if it's going to spin at all?
THanks
Phil
