Re: project boat..progress pics..09/02/06

The dashboard is built, gauges installed and wired, ready to install. The wires are only about 3' long. There will be a terminal strip mounted behind the dash where most of the wires will land. There are 10 switches. I really didnt need that many but added a few for future expansion. They are..Main power, running lights, bilge 1, bilge 2, gauge lights, livewell, anchor up/down, rear interior rope lights, front interior rope lights, horn. 7 gauges...speed, tach, volt, fuel, water pressure, clock, and trim. The panel at the bow is next. It will have volt gauge, onboard charger outlet, 12v outlet, switches for anchor up/down, front interior rope lights, and a spare if it will fit.

Re: project boat..progress pics..12/16/06

I have made some pretty good progress in the last month. A long way to go though. its finally starting to look like a boat. so far have not run into any major snags. seat placement didnt work out how i planned but was able to catch enough of the braceing to make them solid. I just have them temp screwed in til the first water trial..then if good, will permantly fasten down.

Divo, that is truly a fine example of quality workmanship. Wish that was parked in my garage!

So far the tank seems to work. I was worried about the long fuel line. Its bout 21'. I finally had a chance to start the engine last weekend and it seem to work good in the driveway on the muffs. At first, It did take alot of squeezing of the primer bulb though. Ran it for 20 minutes with no problems. I am hoping to finally take it to the lake in the next week or 2 for a trial run to really test it under normal conditions (and play with the W45).

Wow not bad for "300 lbs of scrap aluminum". Goes to show you it takes vision to see what a project could be. With everything youve done you were better off with a "shell". Can't wait to hear how it works.

One word....WOW!

Ok...now that your "practice" is done...I have a spare room and a couch that has your name on it...(you may have to share with the dogs). I can't pay much...but I have about 10 gallons of homebrew in the keg.

When should I expect you here to finish up my boat? :D

Re: project boat..progress pics..03/21/07 UPDATE 08/13/11

Re: project boat..progress pics..03/21/07 UPDATE 08/13/11

Its been 4 years since the build. I thought I would post an update on how everything has worked out. The boat has been used on a regular basis. The cedar flooring has held up great. I store the boat outside with a cover and sometime early last winter it sprung a leak. The carpet was moldy so I replaced it. The cedar flooring was as good as new. The galvanized framing has worked out well also. A few rust spots at the welds where I didnt paint very well with the galv spray. The hull paint has held up well. Has some scratches but sticking great. Motor has been flawless. As far a structure/hull strength goes, It seems to be plenty strong. I have been caught out in some pretty rough stuff and the boat has taken a beating. No signs of stress or flex. I did brace the transom better cause of the big motor (not sure if it needed it, just did it). I also added some smart tabs sx to fix a porpoising issue. I wound up selling the trailer for $400 and buying a new galvanized bunk trailer for $800. The boat sits much lower and is much easier to launch/load. I will try to Take a picture today and post it. Taking it on a week long fishing trip tomorrow am.

Thanks,
Dave
