Thanks guys
I'm going to take it out this weekend if my points come in for the motor. I see that a lot of you go to napa and buy parts but napa around here does not sell boat motor parts. I don't know what happened to the picture Pat but you can bring up my web site and view the pictures.

Guys I don't think that I will ever do this again.I give 2 grand for the boat and reported them to the BBB and they give me back 400 bucks.I ask the forum for help and was cut down by a few by saying it was only a 200 dollar boat and what ever I put into in it would still be a 200 dollar boat. Thanks to JasonJ for the inspiration that he has given me and kept my mind from actually turning the dealer ship into a post office affair.I get along with every one except for liars, cheats and thieves. I have put over 1600 bucks back into the boat not counting what I paid for the boat and trailer and now that **** force motor is costing the hell out of me.Can anyone believe that a double set of points and 2 condensers coust 100.00 bucks.Come spring I will get rid of that piece of trash.I knew buying yhe boat with a credit card that I could'nt turn back so I had to restore the boat and sorry trailer. The trailer is a 71 year model and Raleigh sent me a title for a 1995 trailer.People here in nc are screwed up just like any other state. But anyway thanks again JasonJ and every boat builder for their support.I can't use my konron name anymore because I changed my e-mail address and they would send me a new password but I never received such....Thanks guys
Ron Regan
ronregan@hci.net

A tough way to start out boating. But it looks like you turned your sour grapes into wine just the same. Congrats! The boat sure looks sharp.

Don't even think about the money anymore, its gone. Now its time to have some fun with that thing. Too bad about the Force. I am thinkin' a nice Merc would look decent on the back of that boat.....

JasonJ the boat was stated for a 85 hp engine but do you think that would be a problem with something like a 150 hp mercury on board. My wife and I have deceided to buy a new Mercury this spring for next summer maybe a 4 stroke. If the boat can handle a 85 hp and then every thing rebuilt it should handle more hourse power. thanks for any input guys......
KONRON

konron like jason said don't fret about the money. You took a bad situation and turned it around and you should be proud of that.I remember when you first posted and the ones that was jerking you around and I thought what jerks. Well go forth now and enjoy. and I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of that force. Like you I also followed jason and his beast and it sure helped me.
as for doing it again I am fixing to start on another one as quick as it cools down.

Ron, with your woodworking skills, tools and obvious work ethic, you could make a nice cottage industry from getting ACTUAL 200 dollar clunkers and transforming them into the jewels they once were, sheesh, that thing looks better than new, fantastic job ... and Jason is right, a 150 horse Johnsonwould look sweet back there!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

One more thing, totally sucks what they did to ya

but Ron, look at it this way

your boat is essentially BETTER than new now

where ya gonna find a boat that sweet looking, and structurally BETTER than NEW, gotta focus on that part, for 3200?? Get you a nice near-new four stroker for another three grand, and youve got a turn the key and GO brand new boat for under seven grand

thats a screamin good deal in my book!!!

Re: project complete........konron

Now now now, I never said to get a 150 horse Merc for that boat. If it is labeled for 85 horse, you should stay close to that range. It isn't just structure the horspower rating takes into account, it is also hull design. It would not be a good thing to put a big motor on just to find out the hull behaves oddly at speeds beyond what it was meant for. That being said, my boat is rated for 145 horsepower, so I know I can go to that and still be safe. If I come across a 150, that is not out of the question because 5 horse above isn't even worth mentioning.

In your case, a nice 80 or 90 horse Merc would be a good thing. I guess you could use another brand, but Mercs do look the best, and perform as good as they look...But whatever you do, do NOT paint it blue. I don't blame you for trying to camo that Force, but its just wrong to paint any other brand anything but their original color.

BTW, didn't you originally get the boat for your kid? Did that get converted to the "I fixed it I keep it" or am I just on crack?
