Re: project from the uk

right little bit of an more done this morning got the mould made for the front of the well. was a pretty simple thing to make tried using body filler to make the curves but wasnt very easy to do. i have heard of using plastasine to make the curves but don't have any here so means a trip to town. Do you guys have any ideas on what to use?

Cove moulding made of wood...used for trim in a house...
Cardboard, wet around a round object, dried , then coated with some house paint to stiffen it up, then taped to the inside of your corner...
Aluminum foil...shaped over wet paper to create the cove...dried, super glued in place...
Piece of Plastic Pipe cut into quarters...back sides sanded flush, held in place with some small brads...
Very thin wood, like a veneer, curved into shape and glued in place...
Top of my head that's all I can come up with...:)
Good luck and let us know what you work out...

I've seen folks lay a strip of masking tape an equal distance from the corner along the length, then form a cove with silicone caulk, screeding it to the radius desired with any tool you choose - jar lid, spray can cap, coin, etc. then remove the tape to clean off the excess.

Progress has finally been made on this after nearly a year of it sitting upside down in the field i took it down to the garage this week and got stuck back into it. I got the two sections of the well that i popped out of the moulds last year from the loft and fitted them to the cap and lightly glassed them in for now until i get the final end pieces made. The fit was pretty good for my first set of moulds i had ever made.

I also got the front bit of deck cut out so have managed to get both sections joined together, sealed on the bottom side and glassed in

Ive also got the dash panel replaced and made a start glassing that in place and filled all the old holes in the dash as well as the bits that had been butchered out of it for the old morse controls.

This is probably all I will get done this time home as I'm away to work on sunday so more updates in 2 weeks.

Very cool looking hull! How long is she? I run a 115 on my 16' Sleekcraft that is similar in design, runs 50 to 55 MPH.

Its just under 13ft, I'm looking for something around 50-70hp for mine hopefully get mid 30s with that. Is your boat built to take 115 or has it been modified to handle more power?
