MrDj holy smokes! glad no one was injured! yeah boats on stilts scare me, Im from back east, and all the boats on dry land at the docks are sailboats mostly, and they are all up on wood stilts, they all look like they're ready to keel over (no pun intended) ha ha
:D

when we paint our newman project boat were going to tilt it on the trailer, off one sides bunks, paint one side then repeat.

=============

well we got a new "tow pig" as Rickairmedic calls it, Im happy it passed smog! now onto plates, doing all the maintenence and such, making it good to go for towing all the toys!

1996 Chevy truck C1500 5.7L eng, auto trans, stepside extra cab. Paid $3400 CL

BEFORE
IMG_6956.jpg

we removed the faded blue trim stickers on the side with a heat gun and razor...much better now!
AFTER
IMG_6963.jpg

IMG_6965.jpg

eventually we will redo the bottom of the drivers door has a ding and one paint chip in it. the rest of the body is straight and vegas truck rust free!
try that back east!

vegasphotoman,
Hey man, just pulling your chain. :D
I'm getting bored here and you folks are keeping me going.
The truck looks good.
I also know that you will have that trailer in great shape in short order.
Keep the pic's coming.
Bob

When I do brakes, after cleaning everything,I paint everything with VHT hi temp brake paint. Then I toss them on an old propane grill to bake the paint on.Next,I take them to the shop and turn the them on a lathe.Any paint over spray will be gone after truing on a lathe.Oh,I pack the bearing races with shop type paper towels before painting.

Nice solid truck.

I'll probably make another trip out later to pickup an old Bronco or something cool to fix up. The rust free bodies from your neck of the woods are a big plus.

Mechanically I'm not bad... Body work is another story.

hey, at least you have breaks to work with.
My rig's PO, spent $1200 for new axles, hub, springs, etc....but didn't get axles with a backing flange to put breaks on it (even though the trailer is already setup for surge breaks)

keep chuggin at it

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

Thanks Arch, Bob, Kenny, Sprint, and Ben2go

Im heading over to the Vegas trailer supply today to see what I can find bearing and racewise...good prices over there.

Ive been driving the new Pickup for a couple days, lot LESS roomy than my f150 supercrew, but $27,000 cheaper too! lol feels real solid and no new issues, HAPPY CAMPER! need to make my bed area secure for my photo equipment (gotta do it cheaply), or atleast covered and hidden (so when I stop by a store or whatever it isnt out in the open) usually just lighting equipment and light stands in bins cases etc.

:D

I can see why you can make progress over here.

I'm walking around with no jacket and with the sun shining in Vegas.

I could get used to this. The boat might get delayed if I lived down here as I may end up spending too much time at the Spearmint Rhino :)

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

LOL yeah I hear ya! actually after 21 years of living here I rarely gamble or go into the casinos unless going there for a photo shoot....otherwise we'd be BROKE!

oh and the "new truck" has some sort of electrical issue! it has "cut out" on me totally (electrical cut out) twice now....both times were right when I started it and went to go...something intermittent is causing the under hood breaker to temporarily pop? its annoying...NOT a DEPENDABLE truck yet

1 good thing is though I FOUND my Prodigy brake controller...it was buried in the bedroom closet!

I discovered some sort of gizmo installed with like 13 wires on it...under teh dash..not sure what the heck it is...its been aftermarket installed...Ill prob remove it and rewire whatever they hacked up...dang it! no fun

Hehe, sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm with an engine cutout on it. Look for relays (likely 2, 3 if it supports remote start) wired to that gizmo. I installed one on my motorcycle and it would decide to cut out on the highway once in a while, then discharge my battery. That didn't last long. Luckily removing them is often just a matter of matching the colors to their original "other end". Good luck, and nice truck.

Mr Djflores dang your PO on your trailer must be exaggerating or got kinda ripped......heck axles new are $100 ea, brakes with backing plate and all $58, brake drums with bearing races $48 bearings $10 ....plain spindles $35 ea

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

Ok after a long Hiatus of not spending time with Jezebel.....since its getting warmer here...and lack of photo work for a bit....I had a day or 2 to spend on installing the trailer bearings and new brake wheel cylinders.
======================================PIX PIX PIX

about 30 pics here

http://lasvegaspix.com/projects/sleekcraft13/
======================================PIX PIX PIX

Replaced the races/bearings/seals/brake wheel cylinders.....only one axle had brakes so that made that easier.....cleaned up and painted all the parts bright silver (helps find future leaks) gonna post a youtube video tutorial on how to replace wheel bearing races, greasing bearings by hand and installing the hub correctly

the little star adjuster was totally siezed...had to warm it up with a torch to un sieze it...there was no grease on the threads...now the threads have been wire wheeled and lubed with teflon grease

IMG_7097.jpg

BEFORE...I used my sandblaster to clean it up a bit...we were out of sand so I used some salt for a water softner I had laying around...it worked "ok"

the right side fender had some damage from a flat tire......real thick metal used so I bent it back as best as I could and re welded where the metal was torn/weld broken, using my cheap HF flux core welder....
where the back of the fender was totally smashed in from the flat...it was soooo thick of metal I ended up cutting off the bottom 3 inches of fender...much better now. Im no expert bodyman so it is what it is!

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

hit it with flat black for the time being so it wouldnt rust up
IMG_7105.jpg

IMG_7095.jpg

I made the executive decision to eliminate the old bearing buddies, they are just one more reason NOT to do proper bearing maintenance......and they seep grease etc...I dont think they are necessarily a good thing....so ODIOIS and HELLO to plain steel caps

Vegas, I know you have been busy with brakes and all but if you find some spare time you seem to be a master of photoshop. Could you stop by my thread and try some designs on my boat.

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

Nice work as always. Your trailer looks solid.

My trailer needs some fender work as well. My fenders are not quite wide enough for the tires. I'll post some pics later as I'd like to get some that keep the same design. They have a channel built into them that slides over the frame and just bolt on. The under sides of the fenders have two tabs of metal that drop down for the leaf springs to bolt onto as well.

It would be a shame to do all that work on the boat and have the trailer f up at high speed :)
