Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

here's a shot showing the "beer storage device" so central to our overall design concept!
IMG_1961.jpg

here's the cuddy bench seats storage...OOPS missed some dust from the parts being outdoors for a couple weeks! plus the fact that most of this boat hasnt seen a cleaning in 6 years atleast!
IMG_1941.jpg

Here the wife's finishing the last of the Poli-glow to the top of the boat where the windscreen was located....
IMG_1936.jpg

It's not the ultimate detail work, but nonetheless, I think we did well for the short amount of time and $$ invested...this is the captains seat base...showing the new 3/4" aluminum trim......cut 90 degree V's into the corners with a hacksaw then bent it around the corners...
IMG_1928.jpg

a Shot over the bow!!!!!! snappin necks and cashin checks! BAM!!

That thing turned out awesome. It is definitely one of the stranger boats I have ever seen. A very insteresting layout. Definitely a party boat! I love that is has a lounge and a sleeping area. Am I allowed to say I really friggin' hated the desk chair idea and am thrilled to see a legit boat seat in there? :) What are your plans for this one? Selling it or running it or both?

Vegas,

You and your wife are awesome. I can't wait to see the final 'finished' post!

Did you get the outdrive back together?

I love this boat. Such beautiful work you and your wife have done. I hope my work turns out half as nice as what you have done with this and you aren't even finished yet...

Vegas I just read the entire thread and I wanted to say...slow down will ya!! Just kidding great work and I love the hull. The sense of urgency is overwhelming but you folks are doing some quality work despite the rush.:)

The deadrise on the bow is sleek to say the least. She looks fast parked on the trailer:D

Good luck with the splash and outdrive:)

Hi Huron, :D
speaking of Michigan....(huron) I caught 2 smallmouth this weekend (small ones) reminded me of my St Clair shores days....miss thjat lake and all those fish! Lake Mead is fairly "dead" comparatively....
ps is deadrise those little 16 inch rises on the front above the cuddy?

Thanks Nicky....we love it too...and this is just temp work...next season if we still have her....we may paint her with an updated 2010 look, or atleast a 90s look LOL...if we do that we will recover all furnishings to match with new vinyl....by then we'll have tested it out sufficiently to see how the layout is and make changes there too....

Vegas,

Hi Racin....thats the next stage....sterndrive repairs! going to take some vids of high speed passes from a rock point on Lake Mead once she in H2O.......

That thing turned out awesome. It is definitely one of the stranger boats I have ever seen. A very insteresting layout. Definitely a party boat! I love that is has a lounge and a sleeping area. Hi Ezmobee!!!! love that user name by the way...and the "office space" seat didn't cut it? Didn't you get the memo????? lol well it is a cheap alternative for someone who cant afford much of anything and has one sitting around...a great bassin seat for sure! very comfy and made of the finest corinthian leather! hey anytime you DONT like somethin ....atleast with us, dont be afraid to state it! we want honest opinions from all...and being embarrassed out on the lake, wouldnt be much funner than a leaky barge...so we wanna hear it all!!!!

Ez....Plans call for selling the Glastron 17ft merc i/o we already have several people interested....
and for using the Sleekcraft Miss Jezebel for a while and see what we think...we have not been in big boats much...and want to experience it for a while...especially since Lake Mead gets whitecaps often...somewhat windy here too alot....
If we find a an other boat worth fixing up such as a 26' Sleek Ambassador with a big block, we might snap that up....or a Formula Boat....23 to 27 footer...something name brand! with quality work from the factory. then we'll work on that and ditch the 23'ft Jezabel project boat for an upgrade boat!
PS we have a 1961 Glaspar G3 that will be restoed this winter....no rush as not a flip boat...need to split the hull and do alot of work on it.....more of a "hey we might like to keep it for awhile" boat since it is so small (14') and should be the star of Vegas for it's size class

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

Vegas I used an incorrect term:eek:

What I meant is the pitch of the bow is sleek...looks like it wants to plane out quickly(good for skiing/quick hole shots)...deadrise is actually a measurement of how flat the bottom of the hull is according to google:D

For example adeadrise of zero would indicate a flat-bottomed hull, 23 degrees of deadrise is a deep-v.

Hey I learned something today;)

The new captain's chair looks sweet...I've had discussions about using indoor desk chairs on boats with my girlfriend and I ended up forgoing...got a deal on a couple brand new boat seats(real ones) on craigslist, but I did consider the office chairs since we have an excessive amount in our basement:D

Ahah...deadrise....nice thanks for the tidbit...very cool, maybye one day we'll all sound intelligent enough to hold our own against a real Boatwright!! lol

================
PROJECT JEZEBEL project update

Yes...I do sew...no I don't do needlecraft!!!!! no I dont make quilted blankets for bed and breakfast's etc so now that all the coming JOKES about me sewing are covered! lol:D
Spent all day on the stupid boat cover that came with the boat, we're expecting heavy winds and poss drizzle this week....need to cover her up or she'll be extra dusty again.......... layed it out, scrubbed it down on both sides...rinsed and dried it....first time that boat cover has had that kinda service in many... many years I would bet!

the old cover material is a heavy material...but its old and the threading was fraying or coming apart....so...keeping in line with C.H.E.A.P.
I re-sewed the entire thing! all 24 feet of it, fixed some seam tears, all around the edges and such...ought to hold up for a bit now until we get our boat cover order in on Iboats........ they also have the best prices on Bimini tops, we've bought 3 so far from iboats...nice stuff!!!!!!

/me tucking crochet needles behind his back

Whats wrong with making quilts for bed and breakfasts? I mean I am going to go drink some beer and shoot at some deer or something manly.

Its cool that you have the skills to do that. I spent a hundred bucks on a tarp that wraps around the entire boat.

Hi System F
My Mom passed away over 10 years ago....we have 7 kids in our family....so what I got of her stuff ....was this sewing machine.....so I make sure I use it....we make the kids halloween outfits...fix jeans....hemm in loose shorts....whatever there is it does the job, including punching through 6 layers of marine vinyl.....it is just a standard off the shelf machine too...nothin' fancy or heavy duty....you do have to choose the right needles for the job and adjust the tension on the thread, also use the correct thread for the job.....etc etc also a zipper foot is commonly used to get a stitch close enough to make PIPING....for boat seats etc....also dont pay more than $7 per yard for vinyl if you buy locally....otherwise the price is way overboard

There is a thread which is hilarious about sewing called "dude I sew" or something
QC(moderator) even admitted to sewing a blouse:D

ROTFLMA no sheet? QC??? lol ....now that's hilarious ;) SORRY QC!!!! a blouse...nah Im jus razzin ya....:D
right now we're kinda almost broke until some checks come though....(we have our own biz and sometimes checks from clients take forever) anways so thats' why we're fixing it.....I dont like lue boat covers myself....thats what this one is...and it has some discoloration etc...but it fits and does a decent job of keeping dirt / cats / rain out it will be replaced with a new Iboats cover soon enough! :p

PS the sewing seats togther is a great way to involve either teenage daughters or your wife if you arent handy with the sewing machine....maybye they are!

-
boat cover canvas
IMG_1973.jpg

-
-
-
heres some line stitching practice....

IMG_1980.jpg

-

-
a miniture version of a seat cover, some piping, center area with light gray is 3/4" dropped down....for an inset in the seat....practiceing for future boat seats!

IMG_1982.jpg

-
-
heres the back of that...you'd have to make some slits in the foam so these seams wouold set in em

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

fits decent! I prefer the bungee rimmed boat covers....this one has arope around the rim....plus tabs for bungeeing it down....works ok I re sewed the whole darn thing! used heavy upholstery thread
IMG_1983.jpg

what the edge looks like on piping.....this one was with no string in the piping (micro pipe)...you can use small rope, tubing or big rope depending on how big of piping you want

You're just a jack of all trades aren't you Vegas? :D

I may have to try the sewing bit myself. I bought a new cover for my boat, but of course, it fits horribly around the tower. Maybe I could cut it and sew reinforcements around the tower posts?

Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL 23' Sleekcraft Executive ~ Turbo Restore ~ Tons of pics

Awesome, thank you for the pictures. I'm not sure if my sewing machine can do those stiches as it is old, but it is also heavy and seems sturdy. My mom is very good at sewing so I will talk more with her.

As for the local vinyl, I paid $18 a yard for my stuff. I wish I could find it for $7 a yard locally. I guess I need to do some more searching. How expensive should the foam be? I paid $40 for a 24" x 96" x 2" thick piece which I feel is WAY over priced.

"Dude I sew" thread:

So funny.

Vegas, that boat is SICK. I lay down my tools before you, for I am not worthy.

Just curious, but where are you cutting costs? You're making such fast progress, but all along you keep stressing how you're doing it on the cheap. I just don't see how you could have accomplished this much, this quickly, and still be doing it cheap. You, sir, are a testament to boat restorers ingenuity. And kudos to your whole family for getting involved. That's quality time!
