Re: PROJECT ~ JEZABEL === Im Hijacking my own thread!

Hi all Im hijacking my own thread!

well we took a couple days "break" on the Sleekcraft....to work on the Glastron...........
we have to get our 1990 Glastron 175 Sierra cleaned up and prepped for a new owner!
SELLING IT...to many boats..seasons over.. ones gotta go!

Vacuumed, cleaned, painted all the window trim matte black (it was brassed in the edges) the wife scrubbed the carpet, armoralled the upholstry, removed all the stuff, damn I didnt know a little boat could hold so much clutter!!!!!!
It was like our garage!! lol about 100 life preservers, fishing gear, extra back up parts, snorkling gear...etc...kids junk for the beach yadda yadda

the trailer was knackered up....lots of rock chips LOTS of rock chips, faded paint, chipped and cracked pinstriping etc.....
washed all that down, scrubbed up the tires and rims, heat gunned the trailer pinstripe tape, scraped it all off, acetone removed the glue residue nicely.

Sanded the whoe trailer down with 240 grit sandpaper....used rust converter on all the visible rust, resanded those areas with 100 grit, then 400, applied glazing putty to all teh chipped areas, re sanded those with 100 to knock it down then 400, wiped the trailer down with degreaser wax remover H.E.T.

masked it all off (what a pain that was!) shot single stage, Urethane automotive acrylic paint...looks slick now! (got 1/2 painted, the rest should be done by tomorrow....)
Did a quickie touch up paint on the sterndrive mercruiser...all the paint was a bit faded...quick sand down to rough it up and a coat of auto acrylic gloss black

then on to a quick engine tune up and carb cleanout....check the timing....
the oil was recently changed so that's good to go.....rockin on!
heres a link to about 20 pics

GLASTRON TRAILER UPDATE

Thanks Bret! :D

that was 1/2 the work, the other half of the trailer we did today, also fixed some stuff we should fixed when we bouth the boat 14 months ago...
the PO had a fine thread on a coarse thread on the nut that holds the winder arm on for the winch...used a hacksaw blade to remove the metal in between the threads, then a thread file to clean it up, then a tap and die to re thread it nicely...found a nut in my toolbox, used loctite to hold it secure. (No room for a lock washer......)

we also cleaned and painted the jack leg.......
and I cut the seatbelt looking material for the winch, removed 4 feet of knackered line and re sewed it onto the hook...yet another time sewing has saved me a ton of money! To heck with Geico!!!

TrailerRepairs%20(2).jpg

TrailerRepairs%20(1).jpg

also removed the PO installed spare, it was held on poorly with these HUGE square nut thingys, woulda needed a 1" wrench or a adjustable wrench to remove em.... plus it was in a bad spot, going to add a real spare tire holder that uses lug nuts to hold it on etc....make it right.

so much for "QUICK" 2 days work prep and paint...
almost done, just gotta put some pinstriping on and add the winch/jack assys....
SELL SELL SELL!! lol

I like how you spend the money in all the right places and save in others. I tend to just buy chromed things for the boat and blow all my cash in all the wrong places.

Maybe I can find a nice big boat in the Vegas area and pay you to make it solid for me :)

Thanks Sprint....
Im sure you're project will come along just fine...
being broke helps with the budgeting!

Dude that drive looks AWESOME, whatever you do dont paint the F&*#er black.

hahahha..no sh^&!! heh heh heh...
heck at the rate you guys are going there will be 2 inches of paint on your hull! base coat clear next boat? :D thanks for the kudos on the drive! We also really like the way the ol white anchor came out...might have it actually reassembled this weekend! never got any further than placing it together for a photo! that and painting the Glastron trailer and such...having some eng probs with that "project" uuhhg...no prob, we'll get that rockin soon enough!

We took another "break in work" to WORK on yet ANOTHER project, a 1972 International 1210 Pickup-- it is a 70k mile original no rust....my wife and I owned it for about 7 years...we gave it to my brother in law...well he wants to do some smoothing of lines and get it ptimed, maybye paint so he can sell it for enough cash to move to Australia! ok....so 2 days of bodywork there, my wife and brother in law did alot of the work...I welded some drill holes in the body closed...a little bit of grinfing ancient paint don to metal and such...man that paint was like working on granite! anyways...maybye Ill post a pic of the land yacht! a REAL 8' long bed! all 6 tons of it with 1/8 steel fenders....1/8 inch!!!!thick!!! 392 CI engine...posi rear can pull a house down with it...can't go over 65mph though lol ...heheh...

also some serious delays in the Jezebel project...
namely Photo jobs! yea MONEY!
I went from architectural photography to...WEDDINGS uhg..but hey they're fun and pay the bills...FALL WEDDINGS

and with the weather cooling down (only 91 degress today BRRRRRRR chilly!) not as much of a rush to finish her up...no seriously it's just alot of other stuff going on sooooo....delay!

guess it isnt much of a delay so far compared to some of these 2 year projects...so maybye I shouldn't be so hard on myself...on the other hand....

if we let a project sit for longer than a week....OOPS another project comes along DOH!!!!! endless projects
makes for an exciting never ending life YEA live forever!

and with that said...MAN I BLAB on these blogs! blah blah blah!
Im one of those guys that can walk in and shoot the breeze with the storekeep...for 10 minutes! and I dont even know them....lol hahahah Im a nut

HVAC your too right, I enjoy working on houses too! Soon my buddy and I will be doing tile, hardwood floors and kitchen remodel for his folks. Not cuz I have to do it, but cuz I enjoy it. Something is wrong with us.

I already did, tile in my place, all 3 bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, living and dining room, redid the cabinets and light fixtures, removed all the popcorn from the ceilings and textured, painted whole house.
