Re: Project log : Runabout to Fishing machine

Updates.....Not much, unfortunately. It's killing me too.

I have been poking around here still, so all hope is not lost. My priority lately has been trying to get my house to a point that I can move into it. With the kitchen and main bath ripped down to the studs, re-plumbed and re-wired it hasn't left me much time to get boat work done.

The good news, during the recent storm and following power failure the backup generator at the firehouse has given me someplace to work with heat and light. I managed to get the everything below the powerhead on the motor cleaned up and ready to paint. So one day soon I can throw up a few pictures of some nice gloss black vintage Mercury parts. I'm also be setting up one of those tent type shelters, hopefully this weekend, so I can move the boat from the firehouse to to my house and keep it sheltered from the weather. then I can sneak in some time to tinker with it while working on the house.

I promise, I will finish this thing and you all will get to see it. :)

This project is stunning. I can't wait to see the engine resto. You're a boat building visionary!

I wouldn't think twice if I saw this beauty on a showroom floor.

Thanks for the update Sleeper.. Glad you made it through the storm okay... I understand things are still a bit tough up there with power losses and another storm on the way... I am sure you guys have been busy.. Unfortunately, living in the Gulf South, we can certainly relate to the damage and disruption caused by these storms...

This project is so incredible that we look forward to seeing the final touches... You did an amazing job on it so far.

I know that this is iBoats and all but I can only imagine what your Kitchen and Bath are going to look like knowing how you do things like this mighty fine boat!! I hope that everything remains good with you :) Stay safe!!

Just a heads up. I know Webshots, where all my pics are hosted, Is shutting down and changing names this weekend so I'm going to guess that my pics will soon become broken links. Have no fear, I'm on it. If they crap out I'll have it fixed sometime next week. Maybeeeee..... even a few new ones. :)

Where he had his pics stored went bankrupt and a lot of real good boat porn got lost... been hoping he'd come back and fix them, but I think he might be pretty busy with other stuff right now.

because anyone using webshots was SOL when they changed the site in December (when American Greetings sold the rights) and didnt go into every forum post and change the links to their new smile account, or to a different photo hosting account.

Thanks Sleeper.. I have followed your work of art since the summer. I am looking forward to my first build this coming Summer and I am starting to prepare. Likely April/May (weather permitting) until I am hands on. 16ft unidentified fiberglass runabout, I hope to convert into a bass boat. I log in routinely to show my freinds and family your awesome project. And I am looking forward to all your visuals and detailed posts in aiding myself in my first build.

Just whenever you get a chance Sleeper.

It is a kick-*** thread/resto and I really liked the way you cut the floatation foam off flush with the top of the bulkheads with the handsaw.

No problem!

They're all out of order, but it's all there.

The good news it that I got my shelter set up at the house, so now I just have to tweak the bunks a bit on the trailer so I can get the boat there. I'm not comfortable with how it's sitting on there at the moment.
