Re: ProMach has a new Starcraft Falcon

Hey thanks guys! I have Good news on the newly dubbed "Lady Lisa II". I left her at the Lakehouse with a nice boat cover which managed to blow off in a storm. I now know for a fact she DOESNT LEAK! Yes I found out the hard way. She was full up to the top of the floor! Being the trailer has no jack, I had to borrow my nieghbors' front end loader to drain her. This week she gets 2 tarps and the boat cover- lol. My son has found the starcraft "bug" bitting him in the Britches. We plan some serious father son time this next winter stripping and painting, rebuilding the transom, and polishing the windshield. For now I may need to sell the Lady Lisa I, However I think I have too much money in her, and no one I know will be willing to spend that much.(ok wife left the room, I had to write that real quick). I LOVE being a MBO !! Again, thnks guys I love the falcons too :)

Re: ProMach has a new Starcraft Falcon

Wow! its been 4 months since I've posted?!?
My Falcon has come a long way. All Ive managed to get done was about $1000 worth of engine parts, alot of busted knuckles and swearing, AND ONE HECK OF A GREAT MECHANIC do most of the work -lol. A good friend (Bob) who is a genious, took on the 40 hp Johnson and got her PUUUURRRRING! I cant say enough about the classic Johnsons. Im not a huge fan of the "older style" ignitions and electrical systems, but theres "just somethin' about it".
So I made a conversion plate for the teleflex style steering, and got rid of the "cable and pully" mechanism. I replaced the ignition switch and spent many hours cleaning. And she hit the water a few weeks back. I did take video but havent posted(sorry). I'll post some soon.
I did take a break from life and Deer hunted northen Michigans Pigeon River Forest (home) last week. and I did see a Falcon for sale on the road side between Gaylord and Traverse City. I'm not sure of the "particulars" but she sure was SHINEY!!! lol. Have a great one Gents. I will post pics this weekend for sure :0

Re: ProMach has a new Starcraft Falcon

Ok Jas, hows that? I have video, but I cant figure out how to post it.
I've spent all weekend cleaning out my garage. Im starting the planning of the re-build. I figure the floor is like new. so a new rug and floatation, re-cover the seats, re-build the transome new paint on boat and engine polish all the trim and re-chrome a few items. I'd like to try some scratch removal on the windsheild to. Anyone know of a product I can use and what type of material the windsheild is ? And while I have her in "dry-dock" im going to rebuild the classic trailer:D

Re: ProMach has a new Starcraft Falcon

ProM,
I use "Plastix" for Headlight restoring, I wet-sand it in 3 stages, 800 to get the gouges & dull surface off, But completely sand the entire piece... Then I goto 1000 wet, then final with 2k or 3k wet, Make sure to keep water on sanding. I use a spray bottle. Then I use my drill with a buff pad & dab of plastix & final with a microfiber pad & I use a generous amount of plastix, BUT DON'T LET THE PLASTIX DRY!!! finally I wipe with a clean dry microfiber towel.

I've done a couple boat winshields & a convertable rear window plastic that was so glazed you coukldn't see through it! Came out perfectly clear!

Cool Lil Boat, When I'm done with my 18SS, I'd like to find something like that!

Shadetree-fish,
Great knowledge you shared. It makes total sence. Just like metal polishing. I appreciate the input, and will be going that route. The Windshield is extremely hard to find, and I hate spending $ for someone to do things for me, when I can do it just fine myself. Or get one of my kids on the job to pay for those darn video games -lol.
Any ideas on strippers for the paint? I think she has 2 layers, the top(blue) seems to be a latex-lol. I might want to keep the trim on her, considering the rubber rail is just fine. So I dont want something that would damage the trim.

Re: ProMach has a new Starcraft Falcon

Ok, I revived my 87 seafarer thread, so I might as well revive my 67 Falcon thread. Ive not touched the rebuild since last October, but I did find a temporary trailer for her while I sandblast and rebuild the antique trailer she came with. I found a CL post for the used trailer for $250.00. However the tires were trash and no lights worked, I gave $100.00 and got a great, heavy duty( for her size) galvenized trailer.

I'm still here guys. Haven't worked on the Falcon. But found out I need a neutral safety switch for the 40 hp Johnson super seahore electric. My buddy said it would be nearly impossible to find. Anyone know of a donor engine?
