OK here, I have a 1974' Reinell 23' cuddy/hard top, merc 188hp, alpha one outdrive. the prop i have on it is pretty nicked up so I am looking to replace it, the only numbers I can find on the prop is 1912 17, so I'm guessing it may be a 17pitch? Thanks

So in order to order a new one all I need is the Pitch(17), rotation(standard),thru hub exhaust, 15 tooth spline and 4 3/4 gear case??? Does all that sound right, also alum/stainless, im just using it to get to the avg. speed 30mph no hurry to get there.... Thanks all

Hey wilson, for your purposes an aluminium prop will work just fine.

When chosing a prop you want to select one that allows your motor to turn the top of the recomended RPM range at full throttle. Even if you don't plan on running wide open this is the way to pick a prop that will perform best in all speed ranges.

If you don't know the current RPM at full throttle then replacing the current 17p prop with another 17p prop is about the best you can do. Solas makes a good inexpensive aluminium prop.

If you want to get more involved and choose the best prop for your setup then you need to provide some more information so the people on this forum can help you out.

The info you need for that can be found in the "sticky" threads at the top of this prop topic.
