Prop and head temp

I have a 21' CC with a 93 225 johnson and Im running a Rapture 14.25x21. Ive seen on other posts that head temp gets to high at higher rpms. Im having the same problem .When I take it to 5500 rpms (50 mph) my temp gets to about 165-170. When I let of to a lower rpm 4000 or so it cools back down to 120-125 or so. What can I do to fix this problem.

Does the warning horn sound? Does it work? Are we only going by a gauge or have you used a thermal gun?

No the horn does not sound. I think it works Ive heard it before. And I am going with the temp gauges I have two one on the port and one on the starbord side. If the horn where to sound isn,t the engine suppose to go into S.L.O.W mode which only lets the engine rev 2500 rpms. I toke out the two sensors on the heads and heated them with a heat gun and no horn. Got my meter and heated them again I got continuity. I know thats the right way to test them but just wanted to see if I would atleast get continuity. Either way with them connected and heating them with the heat gun I got no horn. What do I look for next. Is the S.L.O.W feature controlled by the power pack. And what is the max temp on these engines. Thanks

Unplug the temp senders and ground out the harness side -- not the sender side. With the key in the "On" position the horn should sound when the wire is grounded. <br /><br />The 93 should have the "self test" horn. Anytime you turn the key on it should "beep" or "chirp". If it doesn't, that needs to be fixed. Either the horn or related wiring is bad.
