Hi Guys

some advice please - i am going to put a new prop on my pre alpha leg.

i have got the method stright in my head.

but a couple of tips and tricks would be appreciated please.

1) how do you guys stop the prop turning to undo and re-torque the prop nut?

2) is 55lbs torque correct?

3) what grease do you use on the splines?

and this is is confusing me - the tabbed washer currently has the tabs bent down - away from the nut - into the grooves away from the prop nut - how does this stop the prop nut undoing - or is that not the point?

cheers guys

1) I usually just wedge a piece of 2X4 between the prop and the cavitation plate behind the trim tab.

2) You should be able to get the torque from your drive shop manual

3) I use trailer wheel bearing grease.

That "tabbed washer" is actually cupped in so the bottom portion of the nut fits inside the lock ring. You will see what I mean when you disassemble it. Just be sure to straighten the tabs before trying to remove the nut.

The tabbed washer has an indentation shaped like the nut that prevents the nut from turning when the tabs are bent down.
