Hey guys, i'm new to this forum and have been looking for a solution to my problem...
I own a 14' Duraboat brand aluminum and I run a 25hp Johnson on it. The problem is that when the boat planes the prop will spin out of the water and I am unable to reach maximum speed because of it.
I do not have the boat stored where I live so I can't get measurements or serial numbers at the moment. I have read a little bit about the fins but i'm not sure that will help since those will come out of the water as well. I would like to keep the motor but if there is nothing I can do them I will sell it and find one with a longer shaft. Any ideas?

Welcome!

We'd start by looking at the overall set up. Prop condition & style. Where the AV plate is in relation to the bottom of the boat. Anything in front of the motor like a speedo pick uo or transducer? Tilt angle. balance of the load in the boat. Things like that.

There is nothing in front of the prop at all and i've played with various load and tilt positions and the problem did not change at all.

Where is the AV plate in relation to the bottom of the hull?

The plate just above the prop.Usually even with the bottom of the boat is considered a starting point.

I couldn't tell you that right now, i'll have to put the motor on next weekend to find out. Just by looking at the pic of my motor I posted do you have any idea what year it could be around?
