i have a viper 19 pitch 13" wheel on a 90 etec it was used one blade seems about 3/16 out when i spin it on a flat surface off the motor and was wondering if that will loose alot of perfomance? it looks like it has been re-worked before bc it has been sanded with a grinder just the blades. and was wondering if i bought a new one and added some cup to it would that solve a slight porpoising problem? wot rpms is 5200 @ 42 mph loaded down 2 people ice gas etc. from what the dealer says they tested a 1960 excel with a 90 yamaha and the boat ran 49 wot 5400 rpm . that boat is 1 foot longer and the weight added bc the yamaha weighs more..seems like i should be at the 50 mph with less weight ?

Since your motor is rated at 90 hp @ 5000 rpm, and you're turning 5200 rpm with a "normal" load; it seems that you're doing all right.

I question the accuracy of that dealer's statement concerning a F-90 outperforming an E-Tec 90. Very doubtful.

Have you seen the "tug o war" on U-Tube between a Yamaha and an E-Tec?

Thats what i said . theres no way a yamaha can beat a e-tec with weight ratio and 2 stoke power . im wondering if im getting some slip from one of the prop blades being slighty bent 3/16? also they tested the same boat just a foot longer than mine 19' excel stalker with the same load but they had no jp. i have a 6" jp

A blade out of wack will hurt performance.

You'll get the best performance with a fresh(new) SS 19 pitch(Raker?) with the motor's AV plate set about 2" above the bottom.

i bought the boat new but the dealer sucks wouldnt come off a new prop. i think thats what im going to do buy a new raker 19 pitch save this one as a spare. im not getting any vibration through the whole rpm range. but i could be slipping bc of that one blade being out 3/16 .. oh they look like they took a grinder to all the blades will that loose performance too????

I'm no prop expert. Those that are, please don't beat me up too bad if I'm totally out of wack.

13" seems to be small for a 90hp. My 60hp 4 stroke uses a 14" and I'm nailing my rated WOT. Wouldn't increasing the diameter help with the top end and lower the WOT rpms? Looks like the OP is exceeding the WOT rating and could afford to loose a couple hundred at WOT. I understand pitch plays a large factor. Just inquiring about keeping the same pitch and changing the diameter......

Re: prop concerns 90 etec

Did a quick research, they appear to recommend a 13" for most props. A couple with 14. I'm surprised.... Although, the site calls for a 13" for mine too and I'm almost positive it's a 14"(factory).

The SS props you're looking at are all cupped. Some are cupped more than others. For example; a Raker is a more aggressive prop than a Viper(more cup and rake). A Ballistic prop will work just fine.

The slight difference in diameter doesn't matter.

With a range of 4500-5500, how is he exceeding anything? He's turning 5200 rpm.

Probably wouldn't cost much to get your current prop fixed and give it a try. As my dealer said 4500 to 5500 is the best range, sounds like you're doing good and fixing what you have may work great. Just for comparison I have a 1500lb aluminum with a 90 etec and I get 44mph with a 13 1/4 x 15 stainless at 5500 RPM.

Nice boat by the way!

Where are you measured from the AV plate? How far above the bottom is the AV plate?

How come we haven't seen a picture?
