I have an '87 115 on a 16' runabout. I have 2 props: A 22" pitch Laser II and an old stainless 19" pitch Michigan prop. It has no model name, it was manufactured before such prop refinements. The Michigan prop does not have enough pitch. My boat has VIOLENT hole shot and torque throughout the rpm range. It actually has too much out of the hole for skiing. It turns over 6000 rpm @ wot and approx. 45 mph. It also has great ability to hold onto the water. It doesn't ventilate very easily.

The Laser II is more of a speed prop. It has 5200 rpm @ wot and approx. 48 mph. I think I would benefit from a little less pitch here, but I'm mostly disappointed in the prop. The old Michigan prop seems to be better in every way except top end speed. The Laser II ventilates too easily, when trying to ski it is a dog out of the hole AND ventilates a little bit - and that is after replacing the PVS small holed plugs with solid plugs. It also doesn't seem to have very good lift. The way Mercury touts this prop I'd think it would be the best prop I could put on my boat for my application. What should I do? Get a 20" pitch Laser II and have some cup added to it, or try a different prop? BTW, I'm not interested in a High Five. I don't want that much out of the hole. I'm looking for this combination: Decent to good out of the hole, grabs the water like a pit bull and doesn't let go, best top speed. Trophy Plus? $$$$ yikes! Thanks for any help.

TG
