Hi, The prop on my 15 evinrude needs cleaning up on the leading edges after a little brush with a reef. Should I get a bead af alu weld on before I take a file and sanding brush to it or will it be ok to lose a bit in size to shape it up( I am talking small nicks, not big chunks). Would I be be affecting the props performance by doing this.
Hope this was posted in the right place,
Thanks.

Re: prop damage

I honestly believe that altering the factory shape of a prop using non-exacting measures will certainly alter the props performance, for the worse. I would have it professionally done if boat performance is important at all.

This should be in general outboard.

Re: prop damage

Also, an out of balance prop can ruin your lower unit over time. Have it professionally done, as suggested.

Re: prop damage

Thankyou for the advice.
I was going to take a pattern of the prop first but I guess I will just have it looked at. As this post is in the wrong place maybe a kindly moderator could delete it.Thanks
