Prop fit - is it supposed to fit smoothly with the foot?

I'm putting on my new Trophy Plus 13-3/4 X 19 2014 Mercury 115 hp four stroke. I've tightened the nut borderline too-tight and it isn't pulling the prop secure to the foot. The first 3/16" of the prop is now inside the foot, but I thought it should fit almost completely against it.

It still needs 1/4" to be all the way in. I know I have the pieces in the right order. Is it right where it is?

I agree with Bondo, looks right to me as well. If you have near zero end play, happy boating...

I took it off again and made sure everything else was flush. I put it back on and am satisfied it's correct. I was very concerned because 2 previous props seemed to be almost completely flush with the foot. Thanks for your advice.

are you certain that you have the correct thrust washer? Some props require a different thrust washer than he stock one.

As long as you use the thrust washer in the kit you're fine...

Looks good to me too. Prop nut torque should be around 55 ft-lbs and if properly installed (correct thrust washer and kit if a kitted hub prop) would have a few threads of the prop shaft sticking out beyond the nylon insert on the prop nut when secured.
