Friends,

I might be purchasing a early to mid 80's 175 hp Evinrude outboard next week to put on my boat. Boat is an 18ft Ranger 370V bass boat and I am not a person who beats up the boat, don't fish tournaments.

What pitch do you guys recommend?! And why?!

Your knowledge is helpful and a blessing to me!:D:D:D

Re: Prop for Evinrude 175

There are others with more knowledge than I have and this kind of prop selection can be bit of a crap shoot.Based on similar setups I would guess a 21" pitch is a good start.
It would be good to find a dealer that will let yoiu try props to find the best one.
Usaually requires a deposit with the assumption your will purchase a prop.
The 21 may be a little light but if you have to keep it you can use it by watching the rpm and staying at or below the 5500 max. If we go with a 23 if its too much you shouldn't use it as the motor may run at too low a max rpm.
You will need a good tach and a gps for accurate speed in order to tell if your setup is working.Boat will likely easily run over 50 mph.

Re: Prop for Evinrude 175

The 320V just happens to be one of Rangers faster hulls. The 175 on that hull will be a great match up. When mounting the engine make sure to mount it in the second hole from the bottom on the engiine. That will help tremendously on that hull. If your looking at all around performance the Renegade is a fantastic 4 blade prop for your ride.A 23 in the renegade should put you right where you need to b.if your looking for a little more topend then the 3 bladed Raker would be the prop to run. Just remeber setup is the key to a boat that performs well and gets optimum mpg. It would be a HUGE assett to have a 6" jackplate on that hull. It will help to rally dial in the setup so you are operating at optimum. If the motor is up to snuff and you do your homework and get the setup correct you can expect60-63 out of that boat and motor combo AND the best fuel mileage by setting up correctlt.
