Hi

Had my 1977 Glastron Tri-Hull T179, VP AQ130D at the shop for months, now shop doesn't answer - towed the boat home - prop gone missing.

Pls. help with your best guess to replace the prop. Seloc only talks in generalities on this one.

The shaft is about 4" with about 2 and 1/4" grooved. The cone is a screw-on with a metal washer with slots that fit into the cone. cira 1977.

As I recall the diameter was kinda large - about the size of a medium pizza.

1) What prop ?
2) Do I need a special tool to mount the prop ?

3) Should I pay to have it done, or can I do it ?

Thanks.

Most volvo oem props are 14" Diam, that drive can handle up to a 16" i believe. Not sure which pitch however. 17-19 I suppose. BTW that is a short shaft lower 4" hub like you said. screw the cone with the tabbed washer in front, snug it down with a screwdriver through the cone, bend over the tabs on the washer.

Could ask over in the prop forum. Large loads, waterskiing, may want 15-17pitch, two-three people cruising 17-19 pitch. Very hard to determine without trying. I think you can get an aftermarket prop right here on Iboats for $100+.

Good Luck!

Old, how much does your boat weigh and what is the gear ratio for the outdrive.

Don't know the gear ratio.
The boat is just a 17 foot tri-hull.

Should I move this to the prop forum ?

Some one moved it to the correct forum. Thx.

The boat is a 17 foot tri-hull, VP 4 cyl. 130hp. 1 or 2 passengers.
Thanks.

Ed, I show an allup boat weight of right at 2,400 pounds and the motor to be 130 HP with a 2.15 gear ratio. If all of that is right my program shows you need an 18" pitch prop.
