As in the other post-->Key switch for older evinrude the motor is a 62 model evinrude 40hp.

i had a 68 40hp before this one. only had 3 props with it. none of them had markings. two went bad over the years. :( got rid of boad before third one went bad. :)

as with the 68-40 having trouble figuring out what the correct prop is. the 62-40 has one with what looks like michigan pj or pn 30  . does this seem correct.

can any one tell me what prop will fit it. I can purchase one that has michigan pj52 on it, will this one fit.

On the newer JONNYRude props the pitch number will be higher for more speed or lower for more speed. say 13 1/4 X 17 versus a 13 1/4 X 19. which for speed or which for power.

Simple rule, but not the total answer:low pitch low speed, less work required from eng.-higher pitch, higher speed, higher load on engine.
Power-prop, low pitch, better holeshot and better troll (if fishing), also quicker on plane with loaded boat.
Speed-prop, I won't say "performance-prop" because they have diff meanings, but these are usually the oposite of power. high-pitch, slower hole-shot and not the prop you want for a loaded boat, or trolling.
hope this helps.....

If you want a more complete response, tell me what boat, what prop you have now, and what elevation are you operating at, and what would be your normal load-people, fuel, gear etc.....
Most of all, do you just want a prop to suit all areas, or what type of performance are you looking for??????

the main thing that i need to know is what prop will work on the evinrude 1962 40hp that i have. it only has one prop and it is bent on one of the blades. need to get another or two. it has pj30 michigan on it. i have seen others look very similar to this but they say pj52 michigan. what props will work for this motor.
