I spun a prop. I know nothing new.
The thing is, it seems there must be a solution.

I have a 61 Sea King 15 (JohnyRude)
I have found plenty of availability for a new prop.
between $80-$130
What I just can't get my head around is why can't i get information on how to replace/repair the hub or hub rubber.
there seams t be available replacement hubs on newer models.

Am I just missing something?

Re: Prop hub HELP??

It's a job for a prop shop. They have the equipment, parts and knowledge on how to do it correctly.

Yea, but if you can get a new one for $80, I say pull the trigger on it....

Re: Prop hub HELP??

Some of the newer props are 2 piece, removable hub piece from the blades. That way if you blow a hub you simply insert a new one, damage a blade you only need to replace the blade section of the prop.

Re: Prop hub HELP??

I saw a lot of that across the net. Something that gives me pause is the pictures. I am having more luck finding a direct replacement that looks right than a modern replacement part that looks right. I found a http://www.rubexprops.com/dealer/ website that is good for Solas brand props, but they do not mention any replaceable hub models. When I find replacable hub parts they all show Splined drive hubs and mine is pin drive. I'm willing to bet that they took one picture and changed the part number and description, but I just can't find what to replace mine with. I found a local prop guy and sent him my questions, too. He's only 40 miles away, I'm sure there's a road trip in my future.

Re: Prop hub HELP??

Replaceable hub props are typically for motors built in the last ten years, and then only for mostly V4 and V6 motors.

Re: Prop hub HELP??

Take it to a prop shop or Johnnyrude dealer. For $40-50, they'll re-hub the prop.
