So I am looking to replace the beat up prop on my MerCruiser 165 6 cylinder.
The prop I took off is marked MICHIGAN SMG 380 CUP, no other numbers on it. Can anyone make any sense of this, I'm guessing I could also call Michigan Wheel come Monday.

Current WOT rpms are 5000+, pretty sure accurate. I think I would like to try a 14"x19.
I kinda like this used SS if the price is right otherwise I'll just get a Michigan Match or cheap Solas. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mich...3928270QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear

Re: Prop I.D. ?

Windsor, I show your boat with a weight of about 1,400 pounds empty, and with the 165 Mercruiser with a gear ratio of 1.7 to 1, with a recommended WOT RPM between 4,000 to 4,600, please check these numbers for accuracy, When I add two adults, 40 gallons of fuel and various gear I come up with a weight of about 2,300 pounds. At that weight you should be using a 20" Pitch prop and you will be doing about 45 MPH at 4,600 RPM. But since you are looking at a stainless prop of 19" Pitch you will probably be real close to the 4,600 RPM and certainly closer than the 5,000 plus RPM you are getting now.
