New to boating, and new to outboards.
I just purchased a Merc 8 HP 4 stroke (new) for my Gheenoe from Bass Pro Shops.
This was not an "in the box" motor. Apparently Merc makes BPS prep the engines before sale (putting in the oil, etc)
I notice that the prop has some very slight for and aft play on the shaft. Also the prop nut does not appear to be tight or torqued. It is cotter keyed properly.
Is this correct, or should there not be any play in the prop and should the prop nut be tightned or torqued?
Thanks!
