Got an 86 Mariner 45, had cable upside down in throdle box so when I started it it was wide open. Turned cables around now purrs like a kitten but the prop won't turn.. any info is much appreciated, .my first boat..
1986 Mariner 45. Purrs like a kitten but prop won't turn.. it tinks when I move prop by hand with shifter in fwr, nut and rev. Motor off about 10 to 12 inches up from the foot.. any info will be greatly appreciated..
Pull the gearbox off it and make sure the gear linkage is attached...or there may be a port on the shaft where you can see the attachment further up. Other than that pull the gearbox off anyway. Hopefully you’re answer isn’t obvious when you do and the teeth are stripped. You will know what the problem is either way if you do.
