Prop on omc 1976 140 hp

Ok guys im new at this prop stuff and dont understand it, i just bought a 1976 glastron V-174 with 140 hp omc in it it came with 2 props a 14x14 and 18x18 the 14x 14 was on it but had alot of niks in it so i am wonder what happens when i put the 18x18 on it i have yet to run this boat so any thing would be of help MANY THANKS :confused:

Every boat is a little different. Run with what's on it , then switch. Should be able to tell the difference.

The 14 X 14 is way small it will over rev.If it doesn't something is terribly wrong.
18 X 18; diameter is way too big probably won't fit. The 18" pitch is probably also too small and will allow over rev but for the too large diameter.You can measure the diameter from the very center to the tip of one blade and double it for the actual diameter.

i would think a 14x19 would be a good starting point, i would try this firsta 14x 21 might also be in order, but if your pulling i would start with a 19
