I have a 1978 Terry, 15 ft boat with a 1978 Johnson 35 HP motor.
I just replaced the prop (10.5 x 11) due to the old one being damaged over the years. I purchased a "rebuilt" prop that said it was a 10.5 x 13 and the boat motor revs much higher now and seems like it looses the water, at mid speed, revs up higher but does not speed up? The shop where the prop was purchased said they where able to "pound out the pitch from 13 to 11? Is the correct? Would the prop clutch cause this, it sounds like it starts slipping mid throttle? How can I check the prop clutch?
My boat says it weighs 600 lbs dry and I weigh almost 400 lbs.
The motor runs great and I here no sounds and feel no vibrations.
Thanks for your help.
