Hey All,

so... just changed the top end of my merc leg (165 inline GM motor) it had gearing for an 8 cylinder and I could only get 3200rpm out of it. Anyway tried it out yesterday and rpm are are great, runs great, but I still can't get it up on plane. The boat is a 21-6 Reinell cuddy. The prop I have on it I had never used before as it was just a spare laying around. It has a 19 pitch.
So, My question is ..... Do you think I should try a lower pitch or is this prop just to worn? (the prop is quite worn).

Re: Prop pitch?

Try a New, or at least, Not Beat-Up 19",+ see what your RPMs are......You're near the top of the usuable rpm range of that motor.. But, with a beat prop, I wouldn't jump to conclussions,+ Go to a 21" just yet....
The Prop is Everything to a Boat....
