1976 inline 6 -1150
after changing water pumps I removed the prop. I noticed the trim tab missing and the prop looked funny while on the shaft. the only thing behind the prop was a tapered thrust washer which is 7/16" thick holding the prop out too far and this is why the trim tab is missing. I installed new trim tab and removed the thrust washer and the prop fit ok but had about 3/16" play back and forth on the shaft but it will miss the trim tab. Do they sell different thichness thrust washers. The # on this washer is 12-835467-1 and my prop is 13-1/4x17 picth. On the outside of the prop was only a retaining washer with tabs and a nut. Am I missing parts or have the wrong parts. thanks

Re: Prop question

Sounds like all the parts are there and you've got the proper thrust washer. The thrust washer does just what it's name implies. That's where all the push from the prop goes to move the boat. Don't try running without it. Also note that if you try to use a thinner thrust washer, the prop will move forward and the spline washer will not engage the prop and propshaft correctly. There are lots of props that prohibit the use of the trim tab.

c/6
Hooty
