hey everyone i have a question to ask
first some details
my boat is a 1990 2255 bayliner ceira sunbridge
it has a 3.0l mercrusier engine with a alpha one out drive
the boat is underpowered but works my max rpm is 4800 iam not sure what prop size is on it now and dont know any gear ratios on the out drive
my question is what size prop should it have on it and it does seem a little slow to get up to plain is there something i can do to increse performance for hole shot and top speed ??? what would the best prop size be for my boat........

Re: prop question

Welcome,Did you mean the motors rated rpm is 4,800?Your prop size is on the barrel or under the prop nut. With that and your
present max rpm and speed we can decide if we can help your performance.
Your not likely to get holeshot and top end with the same prop.

Re: prop question

We really need the speed to go along with the rpm in order to tell how the setup is working. And of course the actual prop size. I would be surprised to find a 19 making 4,800 on what is probably a 22 ft boat.

Re: prop question

ok sorry it took me a couple days to dig more info up the prop on my 2255 bayliner sunbridge is a 15X17 the engine is a 3.0 L mercruiser with a alpha one gen 2 outdrive gear ratio is 1.94 the boat sucks getting up to plain and top speed is about 46 km or about 27 28 mph at 4800 rpm i dont care about the speed as much as being able to get out of the hole faster ,,,,, seemed today it was hard spining the rpms up past 3500 rpm out of the hole just to get it to plain i had the throttle in full position and it took forever to wined up
any sugestions maybe a smaller prop pitch???
