Re: Prop Question

OK im no expert here but you say that when you tested the boat you had the drive all the way down and did not trim the boat up on plane?? If that is correct there is no way you could have an accurate reading! Put drive all the way down get her up on plane then trim her out you will find a big improvement in rpm and speed! Careful a 15 pitch prop will over rev And yes that prop is dickered get your self a 4 blad 17 or 18 pitch nice deal on iboats rite now and you will love the way they preform!!

Re: Prop Question

I thought the same with the trim. With it being all the way down it is plowing which I would think would make it slower and less RPM. I did some further checking today and the timing was pretty far off (too advanced). I got it set and made sure it advanced with rpm increase. I also did a compression check again and got 140,135,145,140 so I think that I pretty good. When I checked it last time the engine had not been started yet so maybe that had something to do with it. I ordered a 17p four blade prop today. Hopefully that will be good! thanks for all the help.

I put n the new prop over the weekend and it hit the anode fin. I ended up just grinding on it to get it to clear. It has about 1/4 inch of clearance between the prop blade and the fin. Is that enough?
