Prop Rebushing

Hi guys I have a volvo 270 outdrive and have a spare bigger prop I just had repaired and want to try but the bush is stuffed, are the bushs in these press fit type?, are there any special tools needed to do it?, I can get a new bush but want to put it in myself.<br /><br />Cheers.

Charger, you might better let the prop shop do the job, it requires some speical tools to do it and if you don't know what your doing the hub can be cracked easily---Bob But your right MOPAR rules.

hmmm, Ive done one before on my previous boat but that was a 90 outboard just pressed it in and she was sweet, how are the volvo props different? cheers for the feedback<br /><br />And yeah MOPAR Definately Rules I have to many cars

Most likely why you are not getting a satisfactory answer... it's something most of us don't mess with. I guess the point is Charger, by the time you access and pay for the special tools, you can drop it off at the prop shop and get it refurbished just like new. At least you can here in the States. <br /><br />I would hazard a guess that most professionals here send the props out for reconditioning.<br /><br />I like to do things myself too, but this is a job I'll take to a professional. A botched prop can do more than just give bad performance.

Charger, to install that hub properly, you will need, a driver- DP9715, a funnel- HS9715, a hub VS7, and some hub lube,the total price for these items comes to about $220 american less what ever discount you may qualify for. hope this anwsers your question fully enough to satisfy you. It seems like a waste of time to me.--Bob

Not everybody basis their repairs on the $ cost. I work with computers so this is like a hobby, and the reward comes from the achievement of doing things I am not skilled at. $220 is not a huge amount of money to pay for special tools to do a job, I accept that is cheaper and quicker to go to a prop shop but hey each to their own.
