tried my new turbo 17 today, but i can't give accurate results. i went to the river where current is an issue and i had a serious leak where the hose came off my aerator. after getting home i discovered that the plastic nipple where hose connects broke off. anyway, wot rpms were 5400-5500 and top speed was 39 downsteam and 37 up. holeshot was outstanding. i also moved motor up one more hole to the third hole, got one left but wanted to try one at the time. i was nervous about taking any hard turns because the boat now pulls hard to the left until its timmed up on plane, it never did this before. what could be causing this, new prop, motor raised, weight distribution? if it's the trim tab which way do i turn it, i can't remember. prop did not vent but i like i said i kept on the staightaways. gotta get the leak fixed and possibly move trim tab, then will try again.

All of the above. You need to adjust the trim tab, facing the prop turn the trim tab in the direction that the motor pulls. So in this case you will be turning it left (to port side).

cleve, move the motor up one more notch before you take it back out and move the trim tab just like Trend said, hopefully you can fix your leak problem easily.

i want to move it up but i want to try it again where i can take some turns and make sure the prop doesn't vent. definitely gonna move trim tab, as it pulled pretty hard to left but once i was on plane it was effortless. kinda got me scratching my head, the only thing that changed was prop and engine height. batteries and fuel always in same spot. i did notice my tranducer was making quite a rooster tail until boat got on plane but that wouldn't cause a hard pull to left, would it?

If it is mounted on the left side of the transom, transducer could be causing the pull. My bud has the same situation with his Sea Nymph 16 powered by an Evinrude 60HP. Good luck!

it's mounted on the right facing the stern, but it was there before and i didn't pull left. i moved the tab about 3/4" to left and will try again next week. i'm gonna assume with a different style prop it is reacting different.

i know it's been a while but finally got out a couple of days ago. fixed the leak and wot top speed was 39.4 and rpms hit 5600 trimmed to the max. no matter how hard i pushed the throttle it wouldn't do 40, LOL. took a ratchet with me to adjust trim tab if needed and got it where i can live with it. tranducer still throwing a roostertail. overall i'm impressed with the turbo and it really lifts the boat out of the water. hwsiii, i still have another hole to go and i intend on raising it again then maybe 40 mph. thanks for your help, your projected numbers were almost exact.

Hopefully you will be able to get even more speed by raising it up one more notch, and it is very good to see that you are happy Cleve.

And by the way your prop slip is at -2%, that is because the Real pitch of the prop is more than the say it is.
