Re: Prop/RPM Questions Nissan 15HP 2 stroke

Just to report back, I've been using the 8 pitch for a few months and I'm very happy with the performance. Holeshot is almost instant, and I can still top out at 21.6mph @ 5540rpm on a windy day with just me and 3gallons of gas. With 2 full tanks and my family, it will still get up to 5310 rpm, so this is definitely the perfect number.

Hi Bronlonius,

Good to read that you have done a exhaustive prop experimentation, some issues. Is engine running at 90? and transom height seated for water flow to skim under upper water deflector plate with well ballanced boat ? That's the sweet height spot for Tohatsu, Nissan and some other rebadged brands.. If not alredy there, try this new setting, should work much better.-

5540 rpm with you alone it's ok, you're between min- max wot parameters, good hole shot. But with all family members at 5310 rpm you're lugging engine at wot. Would be advisable to have extra prop that gives around or slight passing middle readigs for engine to work with less stress when boating with family. What happened with factory standard delivered prop ? That one should perform satisfactory ?

Happy Boating

This is a 15hp converted ns9.9d, not a ns9.9d2/ns15d2 or later so the max rpm of this outboard is 5500, not 5800. And yes, Leg height, angle, and weight distribution have all been tweaked extensively.
