Prop Shaft Removal Trouble

Good afternoon,
06 Yamaha, 70hp, 70TLR (prior numbers/letters ripped off sticker)
I am having difficulties removing a prop shaft. The water pump base plate had corroded so bad that it broke apart and the base is level with the lower unit surface so it has to come out. I typically pull the hub and the shaft slides out after the shift rod is removed. It appears that the thrust washed is stuck and will not budge. There was corrosion around the O-ring and suspect it creeped at the thrust washer edge where it meets the housing. Is there any ideas why it is not coming out? I have a little over an 1/8th play when I pull the prop shaft and can get just behind that. I've tried heat and a little tapping with a hammer along the outside edge of that washer. Not sure how to proceed. My manual goes up to '04 but I do not have one for the '06. Assistance would be real helpful..

consult the factory manual. I believe you need a slide hammer to remove the prop shaft

I would remove pinion gear.----Remove driveshaft.-----Propshaft might then fall out.
That's my problem. In one of the pics you see the thrust plate/waster on the outside covering that foward gear. I can't get behind that plate to take it out, or see the pinion nut to even access it. I'm trying to understand if that plate should be coming out on it's own or if it's fused/stuck to the wall of the unit. thx..

I do understand that and think that everyone is assuming that I can access the pinion. I can not..
if you look at the second pic, you will see a shiny thrust ring that is covering a shim, and the first gear (forward). That ring will not come out. Both gears are holding on to the pinion. A slide hammer on the prop shaft will damage the reverse gear, pinion, etc.. #65- shim, and #66 Thrust washer is stuck to the wall of the case. Never see this before!
I need some engineer minds on how to get that thrust washer out.

I guess i stand corrected. I did not realize that it came out that way. Most of the Yamahas just pulled out by hand along with the forward gear.
Well, I don't have that puller..
