I?ve just installed a J/E 135 (135583E) on my Suntracker 24?Party Barge, the motor is off a center console fishing boat. My question is what is the appropriate prop size for my ?toon?
Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give.

JB, I cannot give you a definitive answer but the pitch number will likely have to be much lower than what you have. I suggest having your post moved to the prop section for a better answer. As a side note, is the motor a long shaft (20"), as a shorter shaft will definitely create problems with prop ventilation?

Thanks for the reply Ray,
The motor is a long shaft and the existing prop is 13x19. I'm just wondering if that is is the right ball park or not, and I have no idea how to move a thread. Should I just start another one over in the prop section?

The 13X19 will be in the ball park. The important thing is to check the WOT RPMs with an average load.

What year model is the 135? If it is an 73-76 model they like to run between 5500- 6000 rpm. I would be surprised if you could use more than a 15 pitch prop on your pontoon. You might also want to look at a 4 bladed 13 pitch, but either will still need to achieve the proper rpm.

The folks at Solas are very helpful, but I'm with crb. Nineteen will almost surely be too much. Your best bet will likely be in the thirteen to fifteen range. I wouldn't even go out without having a fifteen ready to slap on, but that's me. Good luck.

With the 135 on a 24'er I'd try to go with the 15p.

Hello, first post on here. I am new to floats, but I think I can add a little to this thread if you haven't figured it out already. I have a 24' Crest with a 74' Johnson 135. I have a 13x15 Solas 4 blade on mine. I get a lot of pull out of it, but only 22 mph on my gps with 2 people on a calm lake. I will be putting a 4 blade 13p on shortly. I also put have a skeg guard and hydrofoil on it. I get better turning ability after adding the skeg and hydrofoil. Good luck and please post when you get it figured out.
