prop slipping????? and ??? on new one

hi i have a 89 johnson 60 horse when trying to get on plane the prop feels like it is slipping . how do i know if i have the large or small gearcase? also when it slips the rpm stays the same it just feels like it is chattering? is this the correct smyptoms? or could it be a lower unit problem? also it sounds like no metal to metal just like it is not biting down? thanks

Really need more info.Boat size etc.Prop size usually on the barrel or under the prop nut.Does it eventually get on plane? what speed?
Are the motor and transom the same size?
15" and 15" or 20" and 20" these are approximate size.
Slipping and staying at the same rpm doesn't really go together.
If the clutch dog was badly worn it might chatter yet grip enough to not over rev.
Or perhaps a more serious gearcase problem.

its on a 1989 lund 1650 tyee. prop size is 13 3/4 x 15 . the rubber is bulged a little on the hub and flaking of in the center of it. it does plane out and runs 28mph top speed. if the clucth dog was worn wouldn't it do it at full thorttle? this is happening between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. thanks

You may have a bad motor mount telegraphing the vibrations of the motor directly to the boat. And yes a bad dog would at least clunk occasionally.
Your hub sounds suspicious.Usually a bad hub is just bad and won't go beyond a certain power.But the motor will rev and the boat slow if its a spun hub.
You might drain the gearcase and check for excesive metal filings .
or other debris. Water intrusion may indicate further problems.

the prop has some bad dings in it and some pieces missing would that cause it also?
