I got my boat running good. I cleaned all the carbs and it runs like a champ now. Had one mishap though, 3 of the 4 screws in the bowl on carb #1 backed out on me. Fixed that at the dock though. One thing I did notice was the prop seemed to be slipping, when I backed off the throttle and took off again it was ok. How tight does the nut need to be on the prop, it seems loose to me. I have a 76 Evinrude 75hp

Re: prop slipping?

wv the nut keeps the prop from fallin off, only.
It is driven by a splined shaft, and the splines don't wear out.The prop has a rubber bushing built
into it.
A beer says the bushing is shot.Get your prop rehubbed at the local shop.they probably send them out.
DHP

Re: prop slipping?

Hi there, I am seeing similar symptons. I went out all night one night and next morning when I was coming in I noiticed thatr at about 3/4 revs it would slip (and engine revs climb quite high), back off and it was OK.

Does this sound like a similar problem.
Joe

Ditto sounds like the Bushing is shot kind of like having a clutch slipping in your car.
