The drive dogs on both gears and the dog clutch are tapered on the back end to ease engagement. Typically, the prop will lock up in both directions in both gear positions BUT It is not necessarily so.
When you turn the prop in the same direction as the gear you are in, the back end of the dogs may "ramp" up over each other and will click when they drop back. As long as the engine goes into gear and does not pop out under load, then there is nothing to worry about.
