Firstly, I was wondering what you guys would suggest that I should be running for a prop. I recently bought this and finally got it into the mechanic to fix a carb issue and get a full tuneup. I took it out last night and it's running perfect now.
The boat is a 1994 Montery 19.2 Sur. It's a 19 foot cuddy cabin. It's got a 4.3L Mercruiser with 4bbl carbs, I believe it's the LX engine. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is rated somewhere around 210 HP. It's got a 27 gallon fuel tank and on average has 3 people on board without too much additional weight. I live in Salt Lake City, UT. The lakes I boat in range from about 4600 feet above sea level to 7000 with occasional trips to Lake Powell which is somewhere around 3500 feet. Lately the boat has been seeing most of it's use wakeboarding and I don't see that changing any time soon.
I took it out last night and was seeing 5000 RPMs at WOT at an elevation of about 7000 feet, the spedo was reading 43 MPH.
I'm currently running a 19" pitch prop. What should I be using?
Secondly, I've got a question about the outdrive trim level (not trim tabs, don't have those). Up until last night I had always been running the boat with the trim all the way down. I noticed last night that when I ran the outdrive around the 1/2 way mark on the trim gauge that I got around an extra 1000 RPMs and 10 MPH. Should I typically be running the trim at the middle setting of the gauge?
Thanks,
Dan
