new to this forum and I have a prop question. I have a 2003 Glastron SX195 with a Mercruiser 4.3. We use the boat for skiing and cruising. Normal cruise carries 6 people and run about 25 mph. I have no idea what prop is on the boat now but at 3krpm we are running about 25-28 mph. Does this sound right? Hole shot seem a little sluggins with a skier. i bought the boat used and i haven't really checked it for max rpm. any suggestions with this info?

Re: prop suggestion

In order to offer any assistance, we need to know your absolute top speed, and what RPM is the motor spinning at that top speed. We also need to know your current propeller's pitch, material, and number of blades.

Unfortuately, midrange RPM and speed data is of little value.

That said, if you NEVER go any faster than that, and never approach top speed, then you are free to go down in pitch, which will help your water-skiing holeshot. It will also cause your current 3,000 rpms at 25-28 mph to raise up to a higher RPM in order to maintain the same speed.

Obviously in order to go down in pitch, you need to identify your current prop's pitch. Remove from the boat, search it over for any numbers stamped on it, and report back.....we can usually identify it for you from those numbers.
