Simple question with probably a simpler answer.<br />1992 40HP Mariner that I am doing routine service work on before the season begins here. Would like to know how to tell if the washer needs to be replaced and how do you get it off the propeller shaft. I have tugged, pulled and 'gently' tapped it with a hammer but it seems locked to the shaft. Do I need to use a gear puller ? The prop came off without any problem.

The washer should come off as easily as the prop
