prop to big?

I Just bought a 15 foot open bow sea nymph lake sport boat with a 1985 30 hp evinrude outboard. boat weighs about 700lbs and I plan on having about 4 people on board, the prop on this thing is a 10x15...every site I've looked at has suggested somewhere around a 10 1/2 x 11. I havent taken it on the water yet but dont want to if the prop is to big in pitch. could this have done damage to the motor from the previous owner? I dont have a tachometer hooked up and my seloc manual wont be in for a couple days so not sure of recommended rpm range yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ux2iDOth2f0

most outboards are around 5500 rpm wot.
as for the prop, try it. it may work fine, it may not.
dont get to hung up on it till there is something to think about.

like bifflesaid you need to be in recomended wot rpm range to get best performance and longest engine life. if you dont have a tach i would suggest getting one.
