Prop Upgrade on 235

I am running a Johnson 235 (85) on a 1998 Glastron 17' with a 19 pitch prop. When I'm pulling a skier and I have 2 others in the boat with me it does not pop the skier up right away probly takes 10-15 seconds to plane out. I am looking at buying a 15 or 17 pitch and am not sure which one to go with same thing on size. What is the difference between a 141/4" and 15"? Any help would be appriciated.

What is your wide open throttle RPM?

How big is the skier and how small is/are the ski/skies?

The diameter of the prop is of no consequence. The prop designers vary the diameter in order to maintain the correct pitch.

Larger diameters bite, or hold the water, better. They also allow for a higher engine mounting (X dimension). A higher X dimension means less drag (less gearcase in the water) and that means better efficiency.

Since this prop will be a ski / spare prop I'd suggest the 15. The lower the pitch the easier it will pull the skiier out. Obviously without a skiier and cruising it will rev up past the point of being efficient. But that's what your existing prop is for.<br /><br />14 /14" diameter is fine but a 15" diameter will have even more pulling power.
