I have a bayliner 205 with a 5.0L Merc. The prop I have on there now is a 19P

At WOT the RPM will go to 4800. The WOT range for this engine is 4400-4800
I would like to put a 17P or 15P prop on when I am using the boat for wakeboatding. My concern is that if I am not carful I will take the boat past 4800 RPM with this prop.

Will running the 5.0L above the 4800 rating trash the engine?

Is there a REDLINE for this engine?

Your not supposed to go beyond 4,800. An occasional venture beyond isn't going to damage it. Extended operation will cause premature failure.
