I'm used to Mercruiser props with the splined hole in the middle an integral part of the prop. I picked up a rebuilt prop and later found that the splined hole in this prop is part of an insert that can slide out. The outside of the insert is tapered like a cone and has 3 or 4 squared off teeth that mate into the larger hole in the middle of the prop. When the insert is pushed into the hole and turned, it clicks a little--like there is some slop there. Maybe when it's bolted down it will tighten in.
What the heck is this insert kind of prop?
