PROP WIZARD NEEDED

I bought a 1984 35 HP 2 cyl Mercury. The prop is frozen on the shaft and I expect to wreck it getting it off. I can find no numbers on it except "13" which I suspect is the pitch. Mercury shows 6 props for this motor with part numbers 48-731XXXXX pitch 10" to 17". For a 14 FT. boat I think a middle of the road 13 pitch will be fine. In looking on ebay, I find 13 spline props in the 10 to 11 inch dia. 13" pitch but the number don't match my list Whats the deal on these, will only the parts mercury list for this motor fit?

Is your shaft a 13 spline? Or is it the props youre looking at are 13 spline?

We need a spline count on your shaft.

84-89 35's all use 13 spline of the same diameters and hub size...
1980-83 there was no 35 so I think you spline count "should" be 13.
I don't know if there are even props available for 1970-back for the early 35's...
MWC may have some.

Re: PROP WIZARD NEEDED

spline is 13, from what I can find factory prop for this motor is 10.25 to 10.75 diameter, 11 to 17 inch pitch. I would think any 13 spline, thru hub exhaust, 10 to 11 inch prop would work??? the prop that came on it is froze on the shaft. I expect to have to torch it to get it off. Been soaking in Kroil for several days with no luck.

Re: PROP WIZARD NEEDED

bowlin257, not just "any" 13 spline will work...each is designed for a particular manufactures prop-shaft, although the shaft size may be the same, the prop hub is not. Thrust and aft washers are different, and blade design is built to be used in a particular fasion on a given engine.
