Still working on my1980 DT65 Two, YES 2 cylinder. The prop it came with will not fit without totally destroying the prop shaft seal. If I tighten up the prop nut, the bushing will rip the brand new prop shaft seal to shreds. Also There is a 1/4" gap between the lower unit housing and the prop. This will allow the exhaust to leak out IN FRONT OF THE BLADES and cause MASSIVE CAVITATION.
The guy that re-sealed the lower unit said the propeller shaft bushing/washer was wrong. I called Brown Point and gave them the Model and serial # and they sent me a new bushing. They said this was the ONLY one listed. It is the same one that is on the motor now WTF?????? Is the 1980 Lower Unit different than the 1985 and up?????
Can the bushing I have be modified to fit the older motor??? There is a lip on the bushing, facing the seal, that has four slots in it. It is this lip that is mashing into the prop shaft seal and will shred the seal if I tighten the nut and spin the prop.
