Re: prop

Since we don't have any idea what type of boat you have and what you want to achieve we can't be of much help. If you ski and do other water toy towing you need one type of prop. If all you want is top end, you want another. Happiness is somewhere in between. Read the very first post on this forum to learn what information is needed and why.

Re: prop

The best starting point would be your current propeller? You'd find some markings on the hub of the prop, revealing the diameter and pitch.

My boat is 18 ft and maybe about 1700 lbs (myself inc.), with a Johnson 70hp '93. Close to ideal imho seems to be the 14x17 propeller which was installed when I bought the boat.

So in your case, I would imagine that a 19-pitch would be something to start with (those who Know, can correct this :)

Or how about a variable pitch propeller, such as ProPulse? One propeller, seven different pitches...

Were going to be throwing darts here.without any gauges to know what your rpms are somethings are not going to last long to little of pitch and you youll be over reving,to much you'll be lugging.try to find some numbers on the old one.
